I hadn’t really been on my bike at all the last couple months due to the weather and just being occupied with other activities so I decided to head over to the indoor bmx track to take a few laps of practice and ride with a couple friends. The track was actually in really good shape and I realized I wasn’t in good shape at all! Even with all the other things I do, I feel like the track definitely got the best of me. Overall, I felt a little rusty but it seemed like it got better with each lap I took. Hopefully I can find time to make it out there a few more times and try to get into a little better riding shape.
With all the recent rain, I haven’t had a lot of time to use my camera either. So when Paul got a hold of me to go out to Curb Dogs, I figured it would be a perfect opportunity to shoot some photos. It happened to be Nathan Sykes’s birthday and they were going to have a few people out to ride, so I hooked up with Frank and his son and we headed out. I usually see most of these guys a lot during the summer riding trails, but the winter seems to be a different story. I’m almost always gone snowboarding or digging trails and it was obvious that these guys are on their bikes all winter long. The level of riding talent in all of these guys just blows me away. I’ve been around bmx and mountain biking for a good majority of my life and these guys ride with some of the best style I’ve ever seen. No attitudes, no egos, they all ride simply because they love to ride and push each other. The other thing that really amazes me is how well rounded some of these riders are. From killing it at the skatepark to boosting really big sets of trails, they have skills that you don’t see in the average person. Seeing a lot of them progress from being little kids racing, to where they are now is really incredible. Props to all you guys for pushing it to the level you are at!
Here is a few pics that stood out to me. You can see the rest here.
